On Tuesday 18th November Ms Phelan's and Mr Trench's classes were invited to the library for Science Week. Here is a recount of our day. First we lined up in our pairs. We then exited the school and carefully crossed the road. It took us about five minutes to get to the library. Once we arrived, we went straight upstairs and sat down. Next, the scientist appeared and introduced himself as 'Crazy Craig'. He explained to us that this year, science week, is all about power. He discussed the various types of power and energy. He then talked about how humans get their energy through food. He told us his favourite drink was cranberry juice. Unfortunately, he didn't have any cranberry juice and only had water. But, when he poured the water into the glass, it suddenly turned pink!! He later told us that that there were special chemicals in the glass, and not water and that caused the cool colour change. After that he showed us that if you add bleach to shampoo, along with a special catalyst, and eruption will occur! It went everywhere!! He made a huge mess! Crazy Craig demonstrated many more interesting and exciting experiments after that. We had so much fun. Finally, we walked carefully back to school and chatted in class about the experiments and which ones we preferred. Written by Mateusz Mizgala, Nathan Byrne and Matt Mc Grath.
