The boys in room 22 enjoyed their pancakes today with Nutella, jam, sugar, lemon juice, golden syrup, and marshmallows for toppings!
On the 28th of February, all the third classes took part in cycle safety in the senior yard in St. Corban’s. It was a great day with the sun shining brightly.
Everyone got a high vis jacket. One Garda and one community worker came in to show how to cycle safely:
Rafal was also there to fix any broken bikes.
The Garda let Eoghan Kelly and me onto his motorbike!
The students all got certificates at the end showing that they completed the course. Now they know how to cycle safely.

The note below, from the Parent/Teacher Association, will be sent home with the children this week. If you're interested in volunteering on any of the days please fill in the appropriate information and return it to your child's teacher by Wednesday 23rd October. Thank you for your continued support.
Kildare footballer and captain Eamonn Callaghan, a former St. Corban's student, visited us at the end of the year to present medals and trophies to all the boys who were successful in sports this year. Eamonn took time out of a busy week to visit us and speak to the boys and we are very grateful.
Our students enjoyed their sports days this week with the Junior Sports Day taking place on Tuesday and the Senior Sports Day on Wednesday. As always they were two fun filled days. Some of the activities included basketball, long puck, unihoc, obstacle course, relay race, penalty shoot-out and the ever popular wellie throw! Thank you to Mr. Rock for organising the two days. Below are some pictures from the Senior Sports Day.
As a special end of year treat the PTA very kindly invited all students and staff out to the yard today for ice-cream! The excitement was palpable when the familiar jingle of the ice-cream van rang throughout the school grounds. Eager children (and even more eager adults) took to the yard for a tasty treat, well earned after a tough year's work. A big thank you to everyone on the PTA for organising this special event!
On Wednesday 29th May representatives of the Credit Union came into the school to present 4 boys with a trophy. The 4 boys were David Kiely, Kevin Singleton, Seán Usher and Cormac Dempsey and they were being awarded this trophy for winning the All Ireland Credit Union Schools Quiz.
Ms. B. Dunne spoke about what they would be doing during the presentation and then Mr. Drewett gave a speech to thank the boys for representing their school and to congratulate the boys on their tremendous achievement. Then finally a Credit Union representative spoke and presented the boys with certificates. The two teachers, Ms. Dunne and Mr. O'Reilly, were also given a bunch of flowers and a sculpture of a blackboard with the word "Champions" etched into it.
Then when the presentations were over, everyone assembled in the middle yard for a photo for the Leinster Leader. The presentation then came to a close. It was a great day.

HELP CHARITY AND SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT
We all know that recycling is a good thing. It prevents pollution and means that less waste goes into the big dumps called "Landfills".
On Friday 3rd May 2013 we ask that each child brings some unwanted clothing, household linen or footwear to school.
Recycling your old clothes will help our school in its Green Flag efforts and raise money for the I.S.P.C.C. and our school.
SO BRING WHAT YOU CAN AND FILL THE VAN!
The 22nd annual All Ireland Credit Union Schools Quiz final took place on Sunday 7th April in the main hall of the RDS in Dublin. There was tension in the air as the finalists and their enthusiastic supporters gathered in anticipation of an enjoyable and competitive quiz.
Under the watchful eye of Quiz Master – Marty Whelan, the calls of encouragement from parents, grandparents and teachers were quickly quietened as the teams got down to serious business! It was a nail biting final few rounds but in the end it was our own St. Corban’s who triumphed in the U 13 competition.
The winning team were David Kiely, Seán Usher, Cormac Dempsey and Kevin Singleton. The team were prepared for the event by Ms. Breeda Dunne and Mr. Michael O’Reilly.
The school has a very proud tradition in quizzes and in fact the St. Corban’s U11 team also won the local area level quiz in 2013. That team were Dylan Stewart, Owen Sheridan, Tom O’Sullivan and Joe Morrin. Ms. Dunne has prepared many quiz teams over the years and is aware of the hours of hard work put in by the boys and their
