Morning boys,
I would just like to say 'Well done' to you all for all your hard work this week using the Seesaw app. I have been blown away by it all. So far you have learnt how to record videos, audio messages, take photos of your work to name a few. Ye have been amazing and I am SO proud of ye all. I hope you have enjoyed learning and using the app this week as much as I have enjoyed seeing all of your fantastic work.
To the Mums and Dads,
I know some of you are still working from home and some of you returned back to the workplace this week so I would just like to say 'Thank You' for all of your support and help this week with using the Class app. As you are all aware, we will no longer be using the school website for posting work from next Monday on. Work will be posted through Seesaw only. If you haven't already done so please begin to submit tasks through Seesaw in order for me to be able to give your son feedback on his work. I hope you all have a lovely weekend and we'll see you all on Seesaw Monday morning.

Monday 18th May 2020

Morning boys,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I have a bit of exciting news for you! Today is the day you will start to use the Seesaw App to send me videos, photos, drawings and audio messages of all your work. You are going to have loads of fun. You can tell me how you are getting on with it in our Zoom call this week.
Mams and Dads, a bit of good news for you this morning too! As you know, from this week on, the whole school will be using Seesaw to upload work. For this reason, the decision was made for all teachers to reduce the amount of assigned work for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, in order to afford parents and pupils time to learn how to use the platform. The idea is, with a less amount of work, it will be easier for you all to get use to the app and how it works i.e. uploading work, listening to feedback etc. Teachers have also been asked to assign simple, specific tasks which are to be completed using Seesaw in order to aid the transition. Please remember, you can only do all of this with the Seesaw Class app. You will be able to send me messages using your ‘Family´app. You have been sent a code to access your son's account via email.
I am aware that some parents may like to do extra work on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If this is the case, please feel free to complete any incomplete work from days and weeks gone by or to use any of the links or resources which we have listed here before. Revision is always a good idea for Gaeilge, in fact the pupils need constant repetition to retain new language. The work links and resources that are on the website will remain here until next week. I am uploading the Irish Translations for the week here now instead of posting them everyday. You can consult them here during the week. Once next week comes, all of the work will only be assigned through Seesaw.
Once again, I want to thank you for your continued support and to remind you that if you are having any difficulty with Seesaw or indeed in any other area, please let me know and I will do all that I can to help you. Email me at cmccarville@stcorbans.com

Monday 11th May 2020
Welcome back boys,
I hope you all had a wonderful week off enjoying the lovely sunshine and most importantly, that you and your families are all well. I know it's hard not being able to go to school, see all of your friends and play with them but you are doing amazing work with your distance-learning. I am looking forward to hearing all of your news from the week off and I hope Oisín had a great time celebrating his birthday during the week.
Mams and dads, I know the decision to keep schools closed until September, although necessary, is a difficult one to get our heads around as parents and teachers but I want to assure you that we will do all we can to help and support you in the weeks and months ahead. Here are some reminders for you.
Finally, our Student Council which is made up of pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th class have written some messages of encouragement for the boys. If you have a few minutes maybe you might read them to your son.

Friday 1st May 2020
Morning boys,
It's Friday again and it's the 1st of May already! I have been super impressed with all your hard work again this week. Ye are amazing, well done! Even though there is no school next week you still have an important job to do - stay safe at home, keep washing your hands and help your Mums and Dads around the house.
Mums and Dads,
Remember, there will be no daily work assigned for next week, 4th – 8th of May inclusive, as this was scheduled to be school holidays. Instead, we will post some suggested activities for the week on Sunday 3rd May for any parent to consult if they wish to continue some activities with their son during that week. They are suggested and not compulsory. I hope you all have a nice Bank Holiday and week off. See you all back here on Monday 11th.

Good morning boys,
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and most importantly, that you and your families are all well. I know that you are all working very hard washing your hands, keeping your distance from others and helping your Mums and Dads around the house so keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to hearing all your news from the last 2 weeks. I hope Sam, Josemaria and Darragh M all had a great time celebrating their birthdays over the Easter holidays.
Mums and Dads, we are continuing to upload some work on the website again from today. We are aware of the many challenges which families are facing at this time. The work we assign is to help to continue some learning for the boys but it is not designed to compound pressure at an already challenging time. For this reason, I want to remind all parents to use your discretion when completing the work with your son.

Morning everyone,
Congratulations, you've made it to the Easter holidays. A MASSIVE well done to all the boys, their Mums, Dads and family members who have worked so tirelessly and so hard over the last 3 weeks. Ye have all done brilliantly! As a reward, all the boys and their parents have the day off, that's right you have NO schoolwork today. As mentioned on Seesaw yesterday, we will not be assigning work over the Easter holidays. However, below are some suggestions of activities for parents if they wish to use them. 'Thank You' so much for all your support over the last 3 weeks. It's been absolutely wonderful seeing photos of the boys' hard work and their lovely smiles. Have a well deserved break everyone and a fantastic Easter playing 'hopefully' out in the sunshine and eating loads of chocolate eggs and bunnies. Continue to take care of yourselves and each other.
Ms. McCarville

Hi boys,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend and got to have a little play outside in the garden or even out for a walk in the lovely sunshine. Remember to keep washing your hands, keep your distance from others and to continue to look after each other.
Hi Mums and Dads,
I hope ye all are keeping well. I have attached two videos under 'Optional Activities'. If you have a few minutes maybe you might watch them with your son. The first one is a short cartoon about social-distancing and the second video is Minister Simon Harris answering children's questions on Covid-19. Remember the work outlined below is only a guide and please do not hesitate to contact me at my school email.

The first one is a short cartoon about social-distancing and the second video is Minister Simon Harris answering children's questions on Covid-19. Remember the work outlined below is only a guide and please do not hesitate to contact me at my school email.
- Calendar: (day, date, month, season, weather)
- Gaeilge: Éist agus can na hamhráin (Listen and sing the songs 0:00 - 3:09mins). See video, lyrics and translations below.
- Carr Beag Glas
- Buail Bos
- Cad atá sa Bhosca?
- Timpeall! Timpeall! Rothaí an Chairr - Dandelion Reading: ‘Red Gum’ (see below). Before reading, look at the title and front cover and make a prediction (guess) as to what you think might happen in the story. Remember it doesn't matter if your predictions are right or wrong.
- Jolly Phonics: ‘th’ as in the words this, them, tooth. Listen to the story and song for the digraph ‘th’ (see video below). Look at the image and description below for the action for this digraph. There are slight variations with the pronunciation of 'th' and 'th' however, please do not worry about this. All we need is that the boys can say the "th" sound by placing their tongue between teeth, hear the sound in words and tell you words which have the sound e.g. this, there, throw, that.
- Maths: Listen to the ‘Days of the Week’ song by following the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrVjQSaTQc4

Friday 27th March 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Daffodil Day is a very significant date on the calendar for our school. You may be aware, that this year the Irish Cancer Society has cancelled all public fundraising due to the outbreak of Covid-19. This is the first time in a number of years that we are unable to fundraise as a school. Fortunately, those who wish to donate can do so online and our staff members have made personal contributions already. We understand the extremely difficult circumstances at this time, but we would encourage anyone who has a spare few euro, to go online and donate what you can to this great cause. https://www.cancer.ie/

Monday 23rd March 2020
Good morning everyone,
I hope you are all keeping well and had a nice, relaxing weekend. I hope all the Mums had a lovely Mother's Day yesterday.
Well done to all the boys and their parents for all your hard work last week. I really enjoyed seeing some of the boy's beautiful animal and pet drawings. Check out our Art Gallery.
Remember there is no pressure on getting all the work completed as everyone's situation is different. Please do not hesitate to contact me at cmccarville@stcorbans.com if you have any questions regarding any of the work. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Continue to take care of yourselves and each other,
Ms. McCarville.
