St.Corban's B.N.S.

Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents and Pupils,
As Principal of St Corban’s BNS, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school website and we thank you for taking the time to visit.  We hope to provide you with some useful information about our school and to give you an insight into the wealth of experiences we offer our pupils.
St Corban’s BNS is a fully vertical boys’ primary school, educating boys from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. We have a Catholic ethos and operate under the Patronage of the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin.  Offering the broadest range of practical and academic experiences, we endeavour to provide each pupil with a curriculum which both challenges and inspires him to reach his individual potential.
St Corban’s is inclusive in every sense of the word, where the cultural, sporting, academic and other successes of all of our pupils and staff are proudly celebrated together.  We seek to develop a very strong sense of pride and belonging in our school and celebrate the successes of the whole school community.
Thank you to all parents who are involved with the school and who down through the years have entrusted their children to our care. We thank you for your unwavering support, continuous encouragement, constructive advice and cheerful friendliness, but above all for the belief and trust you place in us as a staff to deliver a quality education for your children.
Should you have any queries about our school, please do not hesitate to contact us. This is your website too! Please visit as frequently as possible, so that you can keep up to date with all the activities in St Corban’s. We look forward to an ongoing fruitful collaboration and your continued support in the future. I hope you enjoy your visit to the website and should you wish to contact us, please find details at the top of the page.
Le gach dea-ghuí,John Drewett

St. Corban’s BNS - WSE-MLL Inspection - Final Report 2023

The Board of Management of St. Corban’s BNS is delighted to share a copy of the WSE-MLL Inspection Final Report which the Department of Education sent to us this week. This excellent report is a recognition of the dedicated work of the whole school community of St. Corban’s BNS, over many years. The Board welcomes its affirmations, commendations and recommendations. We are delighted that the Quality of Pupils’ Learning, the Quality of Teaching, the Quality of Support for Pupil’s Wellbeing, the Quality of Leadership and Management and the Quality of SSE were all deemed to be “very good” – the highest standard awarded by Inspectors. The recognition of the high quality support provided to pupils with additional needs and very high quality support for pupils’ wellbeing, is particularly pleasing. It is a source of great pride to the whole school community that the Inspectors noted, that pupils were exemplary in their behaviour, their attitudes and their dispositions to learning and that all staff members managed, supported and motivated their pupils in a highly effective manner. We are also pleased that the great work of our Board of Management, ISLM Team and Parents’ Association was appreciated and acknowledged. Everyone in our school community should be really proud of the affirmation and recognition of the caring culture and high standards that the Inspectors witnessed during the inspection. Well done to everyone. Congratulations.

Creative Writing in 4th Class

St Corban's The Write Feeling March 2022 (1).pdf

As part of the BLAST arts initiative and in association with Kildare Education Centre, our two 4th classes took part in a workshop with the author Debbie Thomas. We were delighted to welcome Debbie to our school . She has written many books herself  and travels all over the country encouraging children and adults to write for fun, and to build resilience and wellbeing. She uses creative writing to teach global education and to celebrate diversity.  She’s the Writer in Residence at Crumlin Children’s Hospital and the Writer in Residence for the CDETB-JCSP project ‘We Write what We Like. Over a series of workshops with Debbie the boys  collaborated on writing a book they named "The Write Feeling" exploring emotions through creative writing. They did some amazing work on wellbeing and creative writing and should be so proud of themselves for their amazing creativity!

Easter Art - have a look at these lovely Easter Chicks that Ms. Ahern's class made! Well done everyone!
