Seachtain na Gaeilge- 9ú -13ú Marta
Bhí atmaisféar croíúil spraíúil le brath thart timpeall na scoile le linn seachtain na Gaeilge agus bhain gach duine an-taitneamh as! There was warm and fun atmosphere around the school during Seachtain na Gaeilge and everyone really enjoyed it!
Children were encouraged to speak in Irish, and they made a great effort to use their cúpla focal everyday both at school and at home throughout the week. Every morning, ‘An Nuacht’ (The News) was read as Gaeilge over the intercom by the 6th Class boys. Other exciting events that took place throughout the course of the week included Tráth na gCeist, Púc Fada, Cic Fada, Cluichí Gaeilge, léigh siad leabhair i nGaeilge (read Irish books), Damhsa Ghaeilge, Yoga as Gaeilge le Ms. Duffy agus Ealaín le Ms. Finnegan. 5th Classes performed a ‘Dramaíocht agus Amhráin’, including ‘Toy Story’ and ‘Goldilocks’ i nGaeilge and sang songs.
Throughout the week, the children learned about the various Irish musical instruments, played their tin whistles and had the opportunity to play the bodhrán! Ceolchoirm le Colman agus Máire- We were delighted to welcome the talented, Mr Colman Nugent, a previous teacher in St.Corban’s, along with Máire to perform some wonderful Irish traditional music in our halla. They played some Irish traditional instruments such as the tin whistle, banjo, guitar, Irish flute, mandolin and fiddle. The talented Mr. Dineen also performed on the accordian and some of the boys from Naas CBS were also invited to perform.
Boys were invited to wear something green on ‘Lá Glas’. We had great fun stepping out our Irish dancing during our Ceilí Mór on the school yard on Friday 13th March. A special thanks to Mr. Smyth for coordinating such a fantastic week of Irish events. Buíochas mór leis na múinteoirí agus na daltaí go léir! Bhí an-sprócht agus spraoi ag gach duine!
Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh go léir!
