Safer Internet Day

Feb 21st, 2026

Safer Internet Day took place on Tuesday, 10th February 2026.

What is Safer Internet Day?

Safer Internet Day (SID) is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people. It is coordinated in Ireland by Oide Technology in Education and Webwise.

On Tuesday, 10th February, our school proudly promoted Safer Internet Day. The children participated in a variety of engaging activities, videos, and lessons developed in partnership with Webwise. Throughout the day, they explored important topics such as respectful online communication, privacy, effective internet searching, online well-being, managing screen time, and how to use the internet safely. The children also learned about cyberbullying—what it is, how to prevent it—and how to communicate, play, learn, and seek help safely online.

The older classes explored the theme “AI Aware: Safe, Smart, and in Control.” The pupils investigated new and emerging technologies shaping our world, with a particular focus on developments in artificial intelligence. They examined the opportunities and challenges associated with AI and discussed how to engage with these advancements in a safe, responsible, and informed manner.
