We celebrated ‘Wellbeing Week’. Throughout this special two-week period, (10th-21st November) our children engaged enthusiastically in a variety of wellbeing activities designed to promote their mental, emotional, and physical health.
Our focus areas included Mindfulness, Gratitude, Healthy Body and Mind, Growth Mindset—encouraging positive perspectives that foster strength and happiness—and Self-Esteem, highlighting each child’s unique strengths, talents, and positive qualities. These activities reinforced our school motto: ‘Be the best that you can be.’
During the week, we observed themed days: Mindful Monday, Thankful Tuesday, Wellbeing Wednesday, Thoughtful Thursday, and Feel Good Friday.
Students forged meaningful connections by collaborating across different class levels through a range of activities such as paired reading, cooperative P.E. games, board games, Irish language games (cluichí Gaeilge), art projects, problem-solving tasks, coding with Beebots, and Kahoot quizzes on iPads. These activities fostered teamwork, collaboration, patience, and kindness.
We also celebrated ‘World Kindness Day‘ on 13th November and made a special effort to be kind to ourselves and others around us.
‘Treat others the same way that you would like to be treated’
Encouraging acts of kindness extended beyond the classroom—students were prompted to perform random acts of kindness both at school and at home. On some days, written homework was replaced with engaging activities like outdoor exercises, chores, home-based learning, trying new skills, and other wellbeing-focused pursuits.
It was inspiring to see our children embrace these activities, building resilience, empathy, and a positive outlook as they ‘Be the best that they can be.’
